Building · Mentoring · Learning

Companies are built in the real world.

I build ventures and work alongside founders and technical teams as they turn ambitious ideas into credible businesses. The work draws on breakthroughs, setbacks and lessons that only experience can teach.

The work

An idea worth testing. A company worth building.

Building a venture means bringing the technology, customer, business model and timing into alignment.

I help teams identify the assumptions that matter most, test them and build a practical path from technical promise to customer value.

That can mean choosing a first market, sharpening a product concept, finding a design partner or deciding what evidence is needed before committing more time and capital.

A venture I am building

NOMAD Fabrication

Exploring how advanced manufacturing can make industrial supply chains more resilient.

I co-founded NOMAD Fabrication with Dr. Craig Brice to address a practical problem: keeping equipment operating when replacement parts are difficult to source.

The work brings together additive manufacturing, production closer to the point of need, and software to support licensed manufacturing and the management of digital part assets.

It also brings the questions every venture must answer into focus: Which problem should we solve first? Who will pay for the solution? And what must work technically and commercially for adoption to follow?

Where I contribute

Support across the early-stage journey.

Venture Formation

Clarify the problem, the customer and the reason a new company should exist before committing significant time and capital.

Commercial Strategy

Connect technical capability to a focused market opportunity, a compelling value proposition and a realistic route to revenue.

Founder Mentorship

Work through difficult choices, challenge assumptions and keep progress grounded in evidence, with a candid sounding board alongside the team.

Customer Discovery

Learn directly from prospective customers: what they need, how they buy, what they will adopt and what they are prepared to pay for.

Partnerships and Pilots

Build relationships with operators, institutions and industry partners that can help test an idea under real operating conditions.

Investor Readiness

Strengthen the commercial story, supporting evidence and milestones so investors can understand the opportunity and the work ahead.

Lessons earned

Experience includes the setbacks.

I have helped build, advise and mentor companies at different stages—and experienced both the breakthroughs and the setbacks.

My mentoring experience includes Techstars and Telluride Venture Network. Alongside my own venture work and advisory roles, those conversations reinforce how much depends on the team’s judgment, customer understanding and ability to adapt.

Those experiences shape how I work with founders: candidly, practically and with respect for the uncertainty involved in building something new.

Knowing when to persist, when to change direction and when an idea needs more evidence is part of the work. Each decision should make the next step clearer.

Think bigger. Test sooner.

10× ambition. Disciplined execution.

Moonshot thinking asks what becomes possible when the goal is a fundamentally different outcome.

My experience with XPRIZE and ambitious technical ventures has reinforced a practical principle: expansive thinking works best when paired with specific experiments, measurable evidence and a willingness to adapt.

A bold vision gives the work direction. The next experiment helps determine whether the path is credible.
